Google's DeepMind division just introduced Genie, an AI platform that can create interactive 2D video games from text descriptions or user prompts.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is blurring the lines between imagination and reality.
Specifically, Google Genie is an AI platform developed by the Open-Endedness department of Google DeepMind.

However, because it is still in development, Genie still has some limitations in terms of graphics quality (currently only creating games with a low frame rate of 1fps), for research purposes (not applicable to the public but still a research project inside Google DeepMind), and ethical issues.
News page LifeHacker commented that Genie's video games look quite bad, blurry, the movements are jagged, and there aren't too many things for gamers to manipulate.
Genie was revealed at a time when the global gaming industry was experiencing new rounds of layoffs, so it caused even more concern once it was officially released.
A day earlier, game developer Supermassive Games also made a similar announcement.
In 2023 alone, about 6,500 jobs in the video game industry will be eliminated, but the actual number is likely to be much higher.
