ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, has just launched an AI tool that creates videos from users' text or images.
Demonstration videos are created by ByteDance's Seedance 1.0 AI tool, with short and simple commands (Video: ByteDance).
ByteDance just introduced Seedance 1.0 – artificial intelligence tool that creates videos from text and images.
According to ByteDance, Seedance 1.0 is designed to turn simple instructions into high-quality video without the need for detailed scripts or complex commands.
ByteDance confidently claims that Seedance 1.0 is superior to existing AI video creation tools on the market, especially in its ability to closely follow user ideas, image sharpness and naturalness in motion.
On Artificial Analysis, an independent platform specializing in analyzing and evaluating the performance of artificial intelligence models, Seedance 1.0 has been evaluated to surpass other video creation AI tools such as Google's Veo 3, Kuaishou's Kling 2.0 or OpenAI's Sora… both in the task of turning text into video and turning images into video.
ByteDance said Seedance 1.0 was trained on a huge database of video data, collected from public and licensed sources.
Many opinions say that the data source mainly comes from TikTok and Douyin - two platforms operated by ByteDance itself.
The Seedance 1.0 training process is divided into several stages: initially learning from rich image and video data, then continuing with deep learning of transition techniques in many different styles.
Humans are also involved in the training process, as engineers select high-quality videos for the model to learn from.
Currently, Seedance 1.0 limits video length to a maximum of 5 seconds (compared to Veo 3's 8 seconds).
ByteDance plans to soon release this tool for both general users and professional content creators, serving the needs of producing promotional videos or short content on social networks.
Previously, ByteDance had developed AI video creation tools such as OmniHuman, Goku and Jimeng AI, but Seedance 1.0 is the first product that the company confidently claims can surpass competitors in AI video creation capabilities.
