YouTube is getting rid of the Trending section and list.
YouTube has just officially announced that it will "discontinue" the Trending tab and the "Trending Now" list, one of the most familiar features of the platform for nearly a decade. This change sees the platform move away from focusing on a single comprehensive list of trending content. Instead, this platform will only display the most popular content according to specific categories on YouTube Charts.

In Vietnam, YouTube's Trending list is still one of the prestigious rankings, reflecting the level of interest and achievements of artists. Singer Mask, Vietnamese Rap, Brother Says Hi, Brother Overcame Thousands of Thorns Dominating this chart reflects the tastes of domestic audiences.
"Racking up views" and "racing to the top" of YouTube trends for your favorite artists is also a part of idol culture in Vietnam. When the platform removes this category, the way content is recognized will also be greatly affected.
According to YouTube, this decision reflects a change in the way users discover content.
However, trending videos have expanded into more and more categories and subgenres, making the Trending tab less useful to users.

In addition, YouTube also admitted that traffic to the Trending page has decreased significantly, especially in the past 5 years.
"As well as highlighting popular content in the charts, we'll continue to show viewers videos they might love through personalized recommendations. This way, we can surface more popular and relevant content, creating the same natural feel as viewers often search for new videos," the company explains.
As an alternative, YouTube is directing users and creators to other tools.
YouTube Charts now has new category charts including Videos, Weekly Podcasts, and Trending Movie Trailers.
For creators who want to research ideas, they are encouraged to use the Inspiration Tab in YouTube Studio, a tool that provides AI-generated content suggestions.
"The Ideas tab in YouTube Studio will continue to provide personalized suggestions for creators to capture the next trends for their channels. We're also developing new ways to support emerging creators, helping them get more visibility," YouTube said.
Over nearly 20 years of operation, YouTube has seen a lot of innovation and adjustments.
