"Big companies" like Google, Facebook, Netflix... paid taxes in Vietnam in the past 6 months increased by 19% over the same period
On July 13, the General Department of Taxation (Ministry of Finance) said that in the first 6 months of 2024, it has strengthened tax management for foreign suppliers, including "big guys" such as Google, Meta (Facebook), Microsoft, Netflix, Apple.

Tax management with cross-border platforms faces many difficulties and challenges, but recently, with many effective management measures, foreign suppliers have declared and paid directly via the electronic portal in 6 months reaching 4,039 billion VND, an increase of nearly 19% over the same period in 2023.
According to the General Department of Taxation, the main proportion of tax payments are giants in the technology field such as Google, Meta, Netflix, Apple, Microsoft...
Also after the first 6 months of 2024, the tax administration recorded 26 new foreign suppliers registering, declaring, and paying taxes in Vietnam through this channel.
The General Department of Taxation also recorded 383 e-commerce trading floors providing information on the portal, an increase of 22 units compared to the accumulation by the end of 2023. State budget revenue for e-commerce business activities has continuously increased in recent years.
Accordingly, tax administration data for the most recent 2 years has recorded tax collection results from organizations and individuals with e-commerce business activities in 2022 of 83 trillion VND.
By 2024, the tax industry is managing 123,759 taxpayers with business activities in the field of e-commerce.
Regarding some tax management solutions for e-commerce in the coming time, the Ministry of Finance believes that it is necessary to continue to strengthen data connection and synchronization between ministries and branches, especially population data, e-commerce data, and payment data via banks...
