{"id":22259,"date":"2019-03-02T18:19:52","date_gmt":"2019-03-02T11:19:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gudjob.net\/?p=22259"},"modified":"2019-03-02T18:19:52","modified_gmt":"2019-03-02T11:19:52","slug":"dat-ten-thuong-hieu-tro-choi-cua-ten-goi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gudjob.net\/en\/blog\/dat-ten-thuong-hieu-tro-choi-cua-ten-goi\/","title":{"rendered":"Brand naming: The game of names"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--kg-card-begin: html--><\/p>\n<p><em>The article discusses the importance of a brand name in conveying a brand's identity and argues that a name may not be appropriate and it will jeopardize the brand's potential success.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Four guidelines for naming a brand are given: Tell a story that is new and different from the crowd;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>As Nikolas Contis of Siegel + Gale puts it: \u201cThere are three main options when it comes to naming a brand \u2013 descriptive, suggestive and fanciful, but it should always set the right expectations for the customer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Is what Shakespeare's Juliet said true?<\/p>\n<p>There are many cases where brand names do not accurately reflect the truth about the experiences that brands convey.<\/p>\n<p>The simplest way marketers use to create expectations about a brand is to: arrange a product, a name, a strategic platform and an attractive image \u2013 an arrangement that we often refer to generically as brand identity.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image regular\"><picture style=\"\"><source srcset=\"https:\/\/images.storychief.com\/account_2973\/BRAND-NAME-size-Ngang_ddc92f111680183f198bb36726a2c8c8_800.png 1x, https:\/\/images.storychief.com\/account_2973\/BRAND-NAME-size-Ngang_ddc92f111680183f198bb36726a2c8c8_1600.png 2x\" media=\"(max-width: 768px)\"><source srcset=\"https:\/\/images.storychief.com\/account_2973\/BRAND-NAME-size-Ngang_ddc92f111680183f198bb36726a2c8c8_800.png 1x, https:\/\/images.storychief.com\/account_2973\/BRAND-NAME-size-Ngang_ddc92f111680183f198bb36726a2c8c8_1600.png 2x\" media=\"(min-width: 769px)\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"\" alt=\"|\" src=\"https:\/\/images.storychief.com\/account_2973\/BRAND-NAME-size-Ngang_ddc92f111680183f198bb36726a2c8c8_800.png\"><\/picture><\/figure>\n<p>Have you checked out the 2013 version of the Chevy Malibu?<\/p>\n<p>But the company can't keep that name much longer (trust me).<\/p>\n<p>Putting previous generation brand assets aside, the name Malibu is no longer appropriate because of the association within the \u201cwords\u201d themselves \u2013 glamour, thrill, sun, beach, adventure, romance and Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>The name Malibu creates a promise that the new car cannot deliver.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Dodge Charger kept its name.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that the new Malibu is a success, so to some extent, Juliet is right \u2013 names are not deal breakers.<\/p>\n<p>When thinking about other car brands, someone asks about the Honda Odyssey.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, let's analyze more deeply the factors that make a good brand name.<\/p>\n<p>Here are four guidelines for developing a good brand name.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"37nkv\"><strong>1.<\/strong> <strong>Tell a new story<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Often in the consumer world, goods that create messages of quality can be a fierce pursuit.<\/p>\n<p>Everything is declared to be the best;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image regular\"><picture style=\"\"><source srcset=\"https:\/\/images.storychief.com\/account_2973\/goose_vodka_00_1_678bee05c0d2dd9a6284a72d4a9ca1b6_800.png 1x\" media=\"(max-width: 768px)\"><source srcset=\"https:\/\/images.storychief.com\/account_2973\/goose_vodka_00_1_678bee05c0d2dd9a6284a72d4a9ca1b6_800.png 1x\" media=\"(min-width: 769px)\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"\" alt=\"|\" src=\"https:\/\/images.storychief.com\/account_2973\/goose_vodka_00_1_678bee05c0d2dd9a6284a72d4a9ca1b6_800.png\"><\/picture><figcaption>Gray Goose Vodka<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But Gray Goose did something different, they used an incredibly simple and surprising name.<\/p>\n<p>Besides being so different, the name Gray Goose also represents the product.<\/p>\n<p>And this \u201cdifference\u201d story directly supports the idea of \u200b\u200bquality.<\/p>\n<p>But a name like Gray Goose may not be a \u201cgood\u201d initial name, especially in the boardroom, where we are constrained by \u201cwalls of logic and analysis.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"cvkep\"><strong>2.<\/strong> <strong>Create simple but great ideas<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Crate &amp; Barrel is one of the simplest and most effective names of all time.<\/p>\n<p>But imagine how they could pull that off.<\/p>\n<p>If this had been tabled in a boardroom as a well-thought-out idea, with glossy mood boards and positioning statements among a group of marketing experts, the Crate &amp; Barrel name would likely have been shot down immediately. <em>wallpaper* \u2013 <\/em>it's more like a magazine than it is about wallpaper \u2013 it's about all the beautiful, stylish masterpieces that surround us. <em>wallpaper*<\/em> associated with Eames chairs, Cherner chairs and stunning models in glossy, expensive magazine publications, the word \u201cwallpaper\u201d came to mean something completely new and different.<\/p>\n<p>The Crate &amp;
